The export version of the Oltcit Club, powered by the 1129 flat four of the Citroën GSA, was the basic model of the Axel on the western markets.

Better equipped than the base version, with plastic wheel covers, head rests for the front seats, plastic side panels and a rear wiper.

Axel 12 TRS July 1984 - 1989
Exclusively for export was the upmarket version of the Axel. Under the bonnet was a more powerful air cooled flat four engine of 1299 ccm (44,2 kW). It had a relatively rich standard equipment, which made the 12 TRS - on paper - quite an interesting package.
